FB ads not converting? Do this...

Speak to your audience in their language about what's in their heart."

-Jonathan Lister

If you're running a newsletter biz (or just have an email list you're trying to grow) Matt McGarry is a fantastic follow.

Today's lesson is a crunched down version of his post on failing FB ads and how to fix them. I've already implemented some of his tips and have drastically increased my conversion rate over night (!!!).

As always, I'd love to hear from you! Reply to this email or join our new FB group to connect.

LESSON

How to fix your FB ads via The Newsletter Operator

KNOW THIS:

There are 5 main things that affect your CPA (cost per acquisition aka ad results) and the numbers you should be aiming for:

  1. CPC (cost per click) - average cost for each click.

    1. GOAL: <$1.20

    2. If CPC is over $1.20- improve CTR and CPM and this will get lower.

  2. CPM (cost per mille) - cost per 1,000 impressions.

    1. GOAL: <$20.00

    2. If your CPM is over $20 – try this:

      1. Try a larger audience size

      2. Fix your ad image or video

      3. Check your account quality

      4. Try making a whole new ad account and testing it there

  3. Frequency - average number of times someone saw your ad.

    1. GOAL: <1.30

    2. If Frequency is over 1.30 – your targeting is too narrow; try a bigger audience.

  4. CTR (click through rate) - percentage of times people saw your ad and clicked.

    1. GOAL: >1.50%

    2. If CTR is below 1.50% – your ad creative (image or video) is bad.

  5. CVR (conversion rate) - percent of users that clicked your ad and subscribed (aka your landing page or lead form conversion rate).

    1. GOAL: >35%

    2. If CVR is under 35% – your landing page or lead form is bad

DO THIS:

  1. Spend $25-50 per day at first so you learn quick and pivot fast. This price range will also help your ad be optimized faster.

  2. Make sure your audience size is somewhere between 5 and 100 million.

  3. Always use auto-bidding.

  4. Check comments on your ad, delete as needed.
